A couple of weeks ago I posted about Swagbucks. I recently found out about a site that is similar to Swagbucks in that you earn points which you can redeem for prizes. This site is not a search engine, however. You earn points by answering the daily poll, by playing a game, and referring your friends. The site is still in private beta, but will go public in October. They will be adding more ways to earn points as they get closer to launch, but if you join now you can start accumulating points.

The prizes range from Marc Jacobs handbags, BCBGirls & Jessica Simpson shoes and House of Harlow jewelry, to LCD TV's, iPods, video games, and an EOS Rebel T1i camera. They even have a Piaggio Fly 150 moped scooter, if you can accumulate enough points. They are going to be adding four times as many prizes in 3-4 weeks.

SwagBucks

I have been a member of SwagBucks since 10/29/08. SwagBucks is a search-and-win site where you earn "SwagBucks" for searching the web. You can then redeem them for prizes and giftcards, even cash. So far I have earned over $180 in Amazon gift cards so far. I have also used my points on entering Swagstakes, which are sweepstakes for prizes. I actually won 500 SwagBucks on 1/30/09.

To earn SwagBucks, all you need to do is use it instead of your regular search engine such as Google or Yahoo. You will usually earn 1-2 SwagBucks a day doing this. Another way to earn SwagBucks is to find a hidden SwagCode when they have them. These are usually posted as a hunt on their blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Sometimes the code is hidden in an item in the SwagStore. You can also earn SwagBucks by trading in your old stuff and referring friends.

The SwagStore is where you cash out your SwagBucks for prizes. They have video games, books & magazines, collectibles, comic books, electronics such as iPhones and GPS systems, music & band swag, trading cards, airline miles, TV shows, and last but not least, gift cards!

I usually redeem my SwagBucks for Amazon.com e-gift-certificates. You can get $5 Amazon credit for 45 SwagBucks. They also have gift cards for Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Target, Disney, Macy's, REI, Ticketmaster, Lowe's, Sephora, JC Penney, Apple, QVC, etc.

They have movie tickets for 99 SwagBucks and $5 in Paypal for 70 SwagBucks. They really have prizes for everyone, from babies & kids, to teens and adults. If you are feeling generous, you can even plant a tree for 15 SwagBucks.

Some clothes should not be sold in plus sizes

I was at Target a few months ago when I spotted these black shiny wet-look leggings...in the plus sized section. Then I saw these gold lamé leggings at wetseal.com, again in the plus sized section:

Is it just me, or are there certain trends that are best left to the thinner ladies? Now, I expect this from Torrid, but Target? They already have too small a plus-sized section already, and they choose to fill it with this?

Jelly Shoes

I heard that Amazon was having a shoe sale, so I was browsing through the shoes on their site. I came across these jelly shoes and started reading the reviews:

Um, hello? Jelly shoes were from the 80's. I remember having a pair when I was very young. They made a comeback in the 90's, as I remember wearing blue platform jelly sandals. Am I just old, or are these people clueless?

Baby Food Jar Pincushion

I found a tutorial on CraftPudding for these pincushions and decided to make my own. For the poly fill, I found some "Sparkling Snow" leftover and clearanced from Christmas. It's basically the same thing, 100% polyester, only with some sparkly bits added (which you can't see anyways).

P.S.: If you haven't noticed, I decided to change the theme of this blog from beauty to "anything goes".

LUSH Emotibombs

In the new LUSH catalog, there is a new product called Emotibombs. They are like bath bombs, but for your shower. You put one on the floor while you take a shower and they release fragrance into the room. It comes in "Too Drunk..." (pictured), "Sex in the Shower", "Up the Wooden Hill", and "Up You Gets".

These aren't for sale on the LUSH USA site yet (catalog says Coming Soon), but they are sold on the LUSH UK site for £1.95, which converts to about $3.60 USD. I think these might be fun for special occasions when you want to pamper yourself, but it's not very economical to use for every shower. Update: These are now available on the LUSH USA site for $3.95.

In the July issue of Ladies Home Journal, they feature a similar shower bomb made by Sinclair and Valentine called Aromatherapaes Spa Shower AM Wake-Up and PM Wind Down for $4.99 each. The Fragrance Fanatic says you get 5 tablets in the package for this price, which seems like a better deal. I am going to keep an eye out for these next time I am at Target or Wal-Mart.

I was lucky enough to be able to become a member of Ruelala.com , which is an invitation-only site that has exclusive access to private sales at designer boutiques.
